However, his quest for championship glory was abruptly halted and prolonged in a mere 59 seconds.
During ONE Fight Night 31, Iranian contender Abolfazl Alipourandi delivered a devastating head kick to the British fighter, sending him to the canvas and leading the referee to call an immediate end to the lightweight Muay Thai bout in the opening round.
Nolan, a London native, was initially set for a rematch against Nauzet Trujillo, the fighter who last defeated him in February 2024. Unfortunately, Trujillo withdrew from the bout just days before the event.
Alipourandi accepted the fight on short notice, stepping in with only five days` preparation. Despite Nolan`s greater experience and a three-inch height advantage, these factors proved inconsequential in the outcome.
From the moment the bell signaled the start of the fight at Bangkok`s iconic Lumpinee Stadium, Alipourandi advanced aggressively, unleashing a flurry of punches that instantly forced the 27-year-old Nolan onto the back foot.
While Nolan attempted to control the distance with kicks, Alipourandi relentlessly pressed forward, closing the gap with strikes and eventually clinching his opponent against the ropes.
After a brief separation by the referee, returning them to the center, Nolan again launched powerful kicks. Alipourandi, however, maintained his assertive approach, threatening with more punches and pushing Nolan back towards the ropes.
In a critical moment, as Nolan lowered his left arm to defend against an anticipated body strike, Alipourandi seized the opportunity. He feinted a body shot, then unleashed a swift head kick that connected squarely with Nolan`s jaw, wrapping around his neck. The impactful blow rendered the London fighter unconscious, causing him to collapse against the ropes before falling awkwardly to the canvas.
The referee began the eight-count, but upon realizing Nolan was unable to recover, he officially stopped the contest at 59 seconds into the first round. This defeat brings Nolan`s professional record to 22 wins and 9 losses.
